Police stop #BBOG group from entering Aso villa

Members of advocacy group, Bring Back Our Girls, on Thursday marched to Aso Villa in Abuja to meet with

Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo to commemorate two years since the Chibok girls were abducted.

The BringBackOurGirls members were however stopped by anti-riot policemen from accessing the presidential villa where they planned to hold a press conference.

The DPO, Asokoro Police Station, CSP, Grace Longe said the protesters cannot be allowed to access the villa for security reasons.

The BBOG is currently holding its world media conference to commemorate the two years anniversary of the abduction of 219 Chibok schoolgirls at the entrance road to the presidential villa.

Two years ago on April 14, 2014, more than 250 schoolgirls were abducted from a secondary school in Chibok, Borno state, North-EAST Nigeria by the Islamist sect Boko Haram.

The world was in shock over the abduction of schoolgirls.

The kidnapping triggered the global social media campaign #BringBackOurGirls.

But despite the efforts, the girls are yet to be found.

Now a new video obtained by CNN apparently filmed in December, was sent to the Nigerian government and shows 15 girls in black robes identifying themselves as pupils abducted from the school.

Some of the girls in the video have been identified by their parents.

It is the first footage of the girls to be seen since May 2014.

The Nigerian government says it cannot give a time frame for the return of the girls.

Former President Goodluck Jonathan had been widely criticised for his handling of the incident during his time in office and his inability to rescue the girls.
