The Guardian observed that officials of the anti-graft agency had been evading inquiries regarding the worth of the properties and who the owners were. Even its spokesman, Wilson Uwujaren, declined official comments
However, a top source at the commission who spoke craved anonymity stated that a lot of properties had been sealed within Abuja metropolis because “that is where corrupt persons invest the proceeds of their crime.
“This is where the properties appreciate fast,” he added.
Asked whether there had been any properties sealed in the satellite towns, he said, “corrupt people don’t buy properties in the satellite towns because the level of appreciation is much slower. They prefer to buy properties within the city and that’s why we don’t have any sealed property in the satellite towns.
“We have sealed properties all over Abuja city. A drive round will reveal this. The houses are marked in bold red unlike in the past when we used to paste sticker, which anybody can remove and people will not know that the house has been sealed. Now we write in bold red so that everyone can see it,” he further disclosed.
