Fuel scarcity: Blame Buhari, not Kachikwu, says CAN

The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), has faulted calls for the resignation of the Minister of State for Petroleum, Dr. Ibe Kachikwu over the

lingering fuel scarcity in the country.

CAN in a statement issued by its South-East body in Enugu on Wednesday, said attacks on Kachikwu were misdirected considering that he was merely the minister of state, whereas Buhari is the petroleum minister.

In the statement signed by its President, Most Rev. David Eberechukwu, the group expressed total condemnation over call for Kachikwu’s resignation, and asked “what happens to the main minister, President Buhari; will he also resign?”

He said he was surprised over the tongue lashing of Kachikwu by some Nigerians, even those that are supposed to know better.

Eberechukwu, who is also the Chairman, Southern Nigeria Christian Elders’ Forum, frowned at what he termed “the non-challant attitude of President Muhammadu Buhari over the attacks on our people in the South-East and the Agatu community in Benue State, and called for quick intervention of the Federal Government.

“The National Assembly should do something to stop this attack of Fulani herdsmen. It has never been like this before; the Fulani herdsmen we see now are not the same of those days.

“How can they now carry AK47 and pump actions? Who is pursuing them and who are they pursuing? This is quite unfortunate” Eberechukwu admonished.
